The Best Birthday Ever!!!

The guests have left, the house has been cleaned with the help of Ramiro, (for the second time), the cards and many wonderful gifts admired once more and now we reflect on the day I celebrated my 60th birthday. What a fantastic day this was.

We started with a wonderful brunch with two of the kids and some of our close friends. The brunch was prepared by the staff of the Multicultural Centre, and the room was beautifully decorated by my dear friends Dee and Judie.

Back at the house, the first guests started to arrive at 2:30 pm. and by 4:00 pm. The house was so full, it was standing room only. Friends had come from as far as Rocky Mountain House and Vimy. (yes, there are people living in Vimy).Considering the poor weather conditions, (yes, we have had snow and ice for three days now) I admire all those who came to celebrate with us.

There was so much food, which was all prepared by by dear friend Gillian, who insisted to look after everything as her gift to me. I was not even allowed to by some nuts to munch on. She spent days in advance cooking and again the entire day, the kitchen was hers. Many friends helped with tidying up, doing dishes and serving drinks.

Knowing that Regular Birthday cake is not one of my "allowed" food groups. Dee had arranged for a giant Ice cream cake.

The last guests left at 10:45 pm. I certainly missed the rest of my family, who I would have loved to have celebrate this milestone with me. It's nice to know that we have so many wonderful friends, and we will miss them while we are gone. But of course we will make more new friends during our travels.
Also a giant kiss for Ramiro who has worked so hard to finish the new entrance without him it wold not have been possible.

Now it's time to focus on our departure, which is getting closer and closer. We need to start sorting through the rest of the stuff to bring and ensure all our paperwork is done.
