Sunday, February 8
What a hot night it was. There’s not a breeze and so humid. Don’t think I am complaining, I know better. The best thing to do is get up and go for a walk.
There are not too many places to go to, so I walk along the long boulevard. The air is warm, even at 7 am, but it feels good to be outside.
By the time I get back Ramiro and Mom are still in bed. We’re not in a hurry and have all day. There is plenty of food in the cool box. The only thing that’s missing is coffee or tea. After everyone is ready, we drive to Santiago beach. There are no people on the beach, yet. but plenty of pelicans. It’s too hot to be outside so after a short walk we go back to the hotel. Ramiro lays down for a bit and I dive into the pool. We have arranged to meet Peter and Judy at 2 pm for lunch at Chipotle.
The Margueritas are refreshing and the seafood scrumptious.
There must be more to Manzanillo than hotels and beaches and we are ging to explore. We drive past the shipyards to the downtown area, right along the Malecon. There is a cool breeze and after a delicious ice cream we wander around the Ship Dock. There is a lot of construction going on and a lot of activities. It’s Sunday, which brings the entire family out. At the end is the Marine base, which is restricted to a certain extend. We had hope to see the warship, but the machine guns keep us away.
A group of young kids are asking bypassers to throw a coin, which they dive for. They’re pretty good at it.
There are lots of small shops and places to eat or drink tequila.
We make sure we’re home before sunset and we make it quite a ceremony to watch the sun go down.
