It certainly does not feel like Christmas without snow, but I don't miss it at all, nor do I miss the commercial hype.
Most houses have a small trees and some decoration. The few stores that have decorations, have kept it to a minimum.
We do miss talking to the family back home and hope to be able to talk to them.
I discover that I am not able to access the pictures I have taken over the past few days. Too bad, but not the end of the world.
Luis Alberto takes us to Valparaiso, a neighboring city of 1.1 Million people, built on well over than 40 hills. Each hill has it’s own name and its own square.
This city is much older than Viña and has numerous historical buildings. As we drive along the winding roads, we stop at many of the outlooks for a magnificent view of the ocean, the harbour and the many buildings. It's Valparaiso where the cruise ships come in.
What makes this city unique, are the nine elevators, which take the people up to the various neighborhoods. Luis Alberta drops us off at the bottom, so we are able to enjoy the experience of the ride up the hill in this old elevator built in 1897. It still works but everything squeaks.

There are many unique little corners in this city, with colorful buildings, art displays and small gardens.
This city has a lot of character. You can spend an entire day just watching people.
Back in Viña we visit Sausalito park and stop for a refreshment on Valparaiso Avenue. Yesterday, this Avenue was so full with people, you could not even see the stores. Now it is quiet and much more enjoyable.
After a wonderful dinner with the family, everyone does their own thing. Ramiro fixes a few things in the kitchen. I do some laundry and update the blog.
The sunset is fantastic and the midnight swim under the stars is like a dream.
