GIRLFRIENDS

One of the things I like most about living here in the mountains of Colima, is the country side, the view of the volcano and my walks through nature. Whether it is early morning or dusk, I cherish every moment I can walk and do not have to rush back to the Hacienda or home to get some rest. The skies are blue; always. OK the occasional cloud cover may block the view from the tip of the volcano, but most of the time it is clear.
The volcano never looks the same. In the morning the eastern sun gives it a silver glow and at sunset it looks like its covered with gold.

It does not happen very often, but when I have a chance to go for a walk at dusk,I am treated to a beautiful sunset as I walk towards our little ranch where the motorhome has been parked since the end of December.

We have a few days of R and R and are going to pick up two of my best friends in Manzanillo; Gill and Dee. They both flew in to Puerto Vallarta and drove to Mazanillo with Gill's friend Ewa who has an apartment right along the beach. After lunch with Ewa and her husband Howard, who has prepared a delicious curry dish,  we take Gill and Dee with us to Cofradia. We'll give them some time to settle in their room in the Hacienda and meanwhile I prepare a BBQ meal for all four of us at the Motorhome.

It's wonderful having them here. I started to miss my friends and now we get to spend a few days together.
After breakfast, we head direction Guadalajara for some serious shopping in Tlaquepaque and Tonala; Both are a shoppers paradise; One a bit more glitsy than the other, but my favorite is Tonala, where you find pottery, pottery and more pottery. We just can't get enough of it.

Shopping make us hungry so we stop in one of the courtyards for a delicious parillada lunch with the necessary Margeuritas to wash it down.

We leave Tonala well before dusk in order to make the drive south to Chapala where we will spend the night.

A few months ago, Ramiro and I found a very unique historical B and B, which we reserved right away. Each room is very tastefully decorated, with lots of colours and each has its own patio. It's a real treat to just sit and relax over a glass of wine or two.

Ramiro and I have chosen the room named Lady Chatterly, which has an amazing bathroom with steps up to several levels. I wish I could stay here for more than one night. but we need to go back to Cofradia.

We have a very relaxing evening and enjoy the unusual luxury to sleep in. A hot breakfast is served at 9:00 am in the large dining room, which we share with other guests from Canada and the United States.

On our way back to Cofradia, we stop in Ajijic for some window shopping and next is Jocotepec where we walk along the Malecon. At Restaurant Cuba,  we are served a fantastic mixed seafood parrillada.

Then it's time to make the two and a half hour drive back home, where we have to get ready for the Rotary meeting in Colima. Ramiro is in seventh heaven with his three women around him. That he has to chauffeur them around is no problem. He loves it.

We still have one more day to enjoy and after preparing the packages for the next group of volunteers we drive to Comala for drinks and Botanas. We only pay for the drinks and the botanas keep on coming. If we want more, all we need to do is ask.

There are plenty of neat little places to visit in Comala. Even the roof top of the Municipality building is worth a visit. From there you have a fantastic view of the valley and the volcano.
We all agree, that it is much more fun to eat at home (in the RV) than go out for another meal. It's wonderful having my friends around me. I hate to see them go.

In the morning, Diego drives us all back to Manzanillo in the Project Amigo bus. We drop Gill off in front of her friend Ewa's place and continue to the Manzanillo airport to pick up a group of Rotary friends from Stony Plain and Edmonton area, who will join us for the next workweek in which Dee will also take part.
This was great fun girl friends. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. We love you both.
